MCT sets auditions for 'Barefoot int he Park'

Milam Community Theater will hold auditions for Neil Simon's hilarious comedy, "Barefoot int he Park," 7 p.m. Thursday February. 16 at the Williams Civic Center in Cameron with call-backs possible the following weekend.

The show will be on stage April 14, 15, 21 and 22.

A conservative young lawyer and his irrepressible bride struggle with marital discord after the ecstasy of the honeymoon gives way to the reality of setting up housekeeping in a five-flight walk-up.

In addition to the young couple, the script calls for an actress to play the mother-in-law, an actor for the upstairs neighbor and two smaller parts for a deliveryman and a telephone repair man.

Rehearsals are generally Monday through Thursday beginning at about 7 p.m.

Auditions

We stage three shows each year: one in the spring, one in the summer and one in the fall.

Our spring show is usually on stage around the end of March or early April. We typically cast the show in February. Our summer show, usually a musical, is staged the last weekend in July and the first weekend in August. We try to cast the show around the end of May or the first of June, depending on the calendar, when holidays fall and so on. This season, our fall show will be staged the in and we will cast around the end of September.
