About

Mission

The purpose of the organization is to conduct a community drama and recreational organization on a non-profit basis, dedicated to the study, practice, and production of dramatics, painting, music, and other fine arts, for educational recreational civic, and benevolent purposes in the public interest of the residents of Cameron, Milam County, and the surrounding area. Additionally, the organization provides support through scholarships to high school and college students who have been involved in theater arts in area schools and at the Milam Community Theater productions.

Volunteer with Us

For those who have been involved with a production before, you know how many moving parts there are. If you are not comfortable with stepping foot onstage and feeling the warm, exhilarating glow from the stage lights on your face but you want to still be a part of a production, then you may still be in luck! We are ALWAYS in need of those who know how to swing a hammer to assist us in building our extraordinary sets! Prone to accidents and prefer not to hold a hammer? NOT AN ISSUE! We would never deny someone who wanted to help paint sets! Never been one to color inside the lines? THAT’S OKAY! Our tech booth is always looking for new recruits to work our light and soundboard! Not a tech-savvy person? ME NEITHER! Our FABULOUS costume designers are ALWAYS looking for help putting together the most elegant of costumes for our actors! Not a needle-and-thread type of person? IT’S UNDERSTANDABLE! Our backstage crew is always in need of a few extra hands!

Support the Fine Arts through Membership

A Milam Community Theater membership is an excellent way to support the theater arts and ensure that you have a seat at the season’s productions excluding youth theater productions. There is a broad range of membership options to choose from with prices to fit every budget. When you buy your membership before February, most levels include the Members-only Gala. Membership levels include season tickets for any show. Members may buy as many additional guest coupons as they like for only $12 each, a $6 discount off the general admission adult price.

Scholarship Opportunity

From the beginning, we’ve been successful in engaging our community’s young people in theater; it is a part of our “mission” that we find very rewarding. In fact, the young people who get their start on our stage often go on to represent our community quite well. In recent years, at least two U.I.L. “Best Actors,” one “Best Actress,” nearly a dozen All-District and All-Region Cast members, members of a state One Act Play team, and several major theatre college scholarship winners all got their start or significant experience on our stage.

We are extremely proud of these young men and women!

To assist nascent acting careers, Milam Community Theater awards scholarships annually to selected students who have devoted their time to our mission by performing with MCT at least twice and, have been involved in their high school’s one-act play program. Since the program was started, over $12,000 in scholarships have been awarded to 28 different recipients.
